Roca , the We Are Water Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation host a partner meeting held from 8 to 11 April at the Roca Barcelona Gallery in order topromote innovative solutions to the problem of the lack of sanitation in developing countries . Through theprogram Reinvent the Toilet Challenge , launched in 2011, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation invited researchers to submit proposals that could solve the lack of basic sanitation that affects about 2,500 M people; approximately 40% of the world population . Lack of sanitation can cause serious health problems that they amount about 1.5 M child deaths from diarrhea each year.
During the meeting, some 60 representatives of multinational companies, industries and research institutions including Unilever, P & G, Eram Scientific Solutions or Synapse Product Development – presented the progress made by the entities participating in the challenge Reinvent the Toilet Challenge . As world leaders in defining the bathroom space, we participate in this initiative by providing our knowledge of the specific needs of communities around the world and our experience in the fields of design, manufacturing capacity and distribution. “
