Roca , the We Are Water Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation host a partner meeting held from 8 to 11 April at the Roca Barcelona Gallery in order topromote innovative solutions to the problem of the lack of sanitation in developing countries . Through theprogram Reinvent the Toilet Challenge , launched in 2011, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation invited researchers to submit proposals that could solve the lack of basic sanitation that affects about 2,500 M people; approximately 40% of the world population . Lack of sanitation can cause serious health problems that they amount about 1.5 M child deaths from diarrhea each year.
