How did you first learn about Synapse?

I found a job posting on Craigslist and once I came in and interviewed, I knew that I really wanted to work here! When I first started, the company was really small, so I got a chance to wear multiple hats. Before moving to Project Management, I was the Accounting Manager for a time, and I interacted with the PMs quite a lot on project billing. I knew that my background and skills would be a good fit for managing projects so I was very excited when an opportunity became available. I’ve been a PM at Synapse for four years now, and I absolutely love it!

Where would we likely find you on the weekend?

My husband and I live on Bainbridge Island, where my extended family also lives, so we spend quite a bit of time with family. My husband and I really love time in and on the water – swimming and kayaking are our favorites. We also have two super sweet Boston Terrier dogs, so getting more time with them on the weekends is always at the top of my list!

What were you like in high school?

I grew up in a rural community in California. Aside from focussing on my classes, I was an editor of the school newspaper, was involved in acting, and played tennis. I had a fun, close-knit group of friends.

Tell us one interesting thing about you that we don’t know already.

I have a bit of an obsession with British murder mysteries. I own every episode of the classic Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot series, and don’t go a week without watching at least a couple of them.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned at Synapse so far?

To embrace change. As a PM, no matter how much planning you do, you find that change is inevitable, and is often for the best!

What’s been your favorite Synapse event?

A few years ago we had a week-long Synapse Olympics that included several fun events. We were divided into teams with people that you might not typically work with, so it was a really fun way to interact with others.

If you could trade jobs with someone at Synapse who would it be and why?

I would probably switch with Robert, our Lab Manager. Sometimes as a PM, I get an opportunity to help out in the lab on a project, which I really love. I enjoy doing that hands-on work, so switching with Robert for a day would definitely be fun!

Favorite project?

It’s hard for me to choose just one because I’ve had so many positive experiences on all of my projects. I really love that I have gotten to work on products that bring joy and entertainment to people’s lives.
