Emily joined Synapse in late 2016 as a mechanical engineer. She joins the company from the Boston area bringing 6 years of product development experience with her. Prior to joining Synapse, Emily worked for companies in variety of stages in the product development cycle. She has experience working in R&D for a government contractor, designing and manufacturing high volume wet floor care robots, and with a startup designing a wearable device to quantify human biometrics.
Emily earned dual undergraduate degrees, a B.A.in Physics from Colby College and a B.E. in Engineering from Dartmouth College. She also has a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
Emily is passionate about getting youth engaged in the STEM field. In graduate school she created an educational robot, TOBI, which she developed and piloted a test program in conjunction with a Philadelphia area high school.
