
Emily Plumb
Emily joined Synapse in late 2016 as a mechanical engineer and then became a Tech Lead in 2018. Prior to joining Synapse, Emily was in the Boston area where she developed a broad skill set by working for companies focused on different product development stages. She has worked on R&D government contracts at Physical Sciences Inc, design and high volume manufacturing of wet floor care robots at iRobot, and designing a wearable device to quantify human biometrics at MC10. She has developed skills in injection molding, DFX, process control, and small scale test fixtures for research.
Emily earned dual undergraduate degrees, including a BA in Physics from Colby College and a BE in Engineering from Dartmouth College. She also earned a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
Emily is passionate about getting youth engaged in the STEM field. In graduate school she developed and piloted an educational robot, TOBI, in conjunction with a Philadelphia area high school.
