Zach has led a well-traveled life, having been born on the island of Guam and attending most of high school in northwest Italy. Eventually, Zach made his way to western Washington, attending college at Seattle Pacific University where he received his BS in Electrical Engineering with a focus on embedded systems. While in school, Zach interned on projects focusing on human-powered energy in Rwanda, embedded data acquisition in Italy, and digital signal processing in the United States.
Since graduating, he has worked with microcontroller-based monitoring systems, both large (distributed throughout commercial marine vessels) and small (embedded in mouth guards to measure head impacts). This last foray into sports monitoring led him to Synapse, where he has worked on wearable fitness electronics devices.
Zach enjoys coffee, running, wool clothes, and steel bikes with fenders and shiny baskets. Zach’s love for travel persists but he has also been enjoying establishing roots in the Pacific Northwest, despite getting rained on from time to time.
